Passage: Acts 2:1-21

"Tradition is the handing on of the flame, not the worshiping of the ashes," said the great Austrian composer Gustav Mahler. People of the Christian faith know this better than anyone, although sometimes we get bogged down in our traditions. The Christian movement, after all, was born on the day God handed on the Holy Spirit to a new generation of preachers and teachers and, with flaming tongues of fire, they went into the world and, in many different languages, handed on the good news of Jesus Christ.
