Leave a Legacy

What is the Old Stone Church Legacy Society?

  • The Legacy Society was established to provide a means for friends and members of OSC and the First Presbyterian Society to assure the success of these historical institutions through financial or other tangible commitments.
  • Membership in the Legacy Society is open to anyone who acknowledges that they have made a contribution or bequest within their will/estate or have made other tangible (deferred) gifts to OSC or FPS. Specific amounts do not need to be included in the membership application.
  • Legacy Society members may be recognized from time to time for their deferred giving support of OSC and/or FPS. You can choose to remain anonymous if you wish.
  • If you have already named Old Stone Church or First Presbyterian Society in your will or other financial instrument, please complete our application so that you may be enrolled as a Legacy Society member. Applications may be picked up from the church office.

How do I become a Legacy Society member?

There are several ways to contribute and participate in the Legacy Society. The best gifts are tailor-made to fit each donor’s needs and giving intent, and will help you realize your giving legacy.

  • Appreciated securities – Transfers of stock and mutual funds, which are made directly from your brokerage account to Old Stone Church or First Presbyterian Society
  • Beneficiary designations – A significant deferred gift that is made by designating Old Stone Church or First Presbyterian Society as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement plan
  • Bequest – A gift of a fixed amount, an item (such as property), or a percentage of your estate
  • Personal property – Items such as automobiles, art collections, antiques, coin collections, stamp collections, jewelry, and other items may also be given in lieu of financial contributions.
  • Life income plans – Charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts may be set up to benefit Old Stone Church or First Presbyterian Society, and donors will receive charitable deductions when the gift is made as well as income from the trust throughout their lifetime.
