BETHANY
CHURCH MEALS: One of our daughter congregations
where meals are
served the first Friday of the month at Bethany Presbyterian Church,
located at Clinton and West 65th.
BIG BROTHERS
AND BIG SISTERS: Plans and offers programs for young people
in need of support and opportunities to relate to caring adults.
THE CITY
MISSION: Provides shelter for homeless men, job
assistance and a clothing store.
COOKIES FOR VETS:
On Memorial Day, Old Stone volunteers deliver boxes of home-baked
cookies to vets at the Brecksville VA Hospital.
GOODRICH-GANNETT NEIGHBORHOOD
CENTER:
Our mission started here in 1896 and today offers senior programs as
well as after school programs for grades 7–12
plus a preschool for area children.
THE HUNGER
NETWORK:
Oversees
22 food centers and 10 hot-meal sites in
Greater Cleveland.
Interreligious Partners in
Action of Greater Cleveland (InterAct Cleveland):
A collaboration of
over 50 congregations that have come together to create
change to create change through interfaith partnerships such as the Homeless Stand Down
and Dialogue Groups.
INTERFAITH
HOSPITALITY NETWORK (IHN): A network of congregations that
provides
homeless families with shelter, meals, counseling and job assistance.
Old Stone volunteers help to host families at Rocky River United
Methodist Church
4–5 times a year plus provide a
Christmas party for all families served that year.
MEALS FOR
THE HOMELESS:
Old Stone partners with St. Paschal Baylon Church to serve a hot meal
on the fourth Saturday of each month.
NORTH CHURCH:
A daughter church in the inner city providing ministry, programs, and
activities to area residents and housing the Lift Jesus Up Ministry.
OLD STONE
CHURCH - SOCIAL SERVICES:
Provides emergency food
each Friday morning to
over 300 people in need every year.
OLD STONE
FOUNDATION - ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL: Located on
the third floor of
Old Stone Center, this offers a City of Cleveland school for students
to obtain their GED certificate or high school diploma. Also provides
nursery for children of students.
TRANSITIONAL
HOUSING, INC: Offers a safe haven for
up to 64 women in
the process of rebuilding their lives after suffering abuse and/or
addiction, who were formerly homeless. Old Stone sponsors their awards
dinner, a "shower" for the women and a Christmas supper for their
families.
TREMONT
MONTESSORI K-8 SCHOOL:
The only Montessori
school in the Cleveland school system. Old Stone provided a computer
room for the school and provides tutoring and assistance with winter
clothing.
UNITED
PROTESTANT CAMPUS MINISTRIES (UpCam):
Provides services of a Chaplin at Case Western,
Tri-C, and Cleveland State as well as other services and programs for
students of the area colleges.
NEW INITIATIVES:
Each year the Board of Missions considers new projects.
One was providing 300 pairs of mittens and 300 hats for students of
Tremont Elementary School which is the closest elementary school to
Old Stone Church. Another was packing health kits for the Synod Mobile Health
Fair. One-time grants are available to members undertaking voluntary
mission trips.
FOREIGN MISSIONS:
Stepping Stones Child Care Center in South Africa.
OTHER REGIONAL
MISSION PROJECTS:
Mission of the Presbytery of the Western Reserve (covering NE Ohio)
and the Mobile Health Fair of the Synod of the Covenant.
