Directions
to Old Stone Church:
Old Stone Church is located on Public Square right
in the heart of Downtown Cleveland. Follow the signs on any of
the major highways to Public Square. Once you get to Public Square you
can't miss us! We are in
the Northwest quadrant of Public Square, at the intersection of
Rockwell and Ontario Streets.
During office hours,
when the sanctuary doors are closed visitors may enter
the church through the Ontario Street entrance.
Public
Transportation
Old
Stone Church is convenient to the many RTA
buses that stop on Public Square as well as the Rapid Transit
station at Tower City.
Parking
Information:
Free parking is available on Sunday mornings at the
Public Square West lot on
W. 3rd Street, which is conveniently located south of John Q's
Restaurant (in the Illuminating Bldg) and to the north of The Renaissance
Hotel (see above map).
Bring your ticket from the lot into
the church to get it stamped. There is also limited on-street parking
on Sunday mornings. The parking spots in front of the church are
reserved for our mobility impaired guests. When visiting the church at other times, please
call for parking information.
FREE Valet Parking on Sundays:
Free valet parking
is available at the Ontario Street entrance starting at 8:45 a.m. (No
additional gratuity is expected.) Everyone—families, elderly, physically
limited—is encouraged to use the service. The attendants will be on duty
until the after-church programs are completed.
Handicapped
Accessibility
Old Stone Church is
handicapped accessible through the Ontario Street entrance. If you
need assistance please tell one of our greeters at the door. Old Stone Center, our
adjoining parish house, is equipped with an elevator to all floors.
Wheelchairs
are available for use in the church. The wheelchair seating areas are conveniently
located along the inside aisles with companion seating in the adjacent
pew. Ask any
Usher or Greeter for directions to our wheelchair accessible restroom
facilities. The parking spots in front of the church are
reserved for our mobility impaired guests.
We
offer large-print worship materials on request. Please ask an Usher
for a large-print bulletin. Large-print Bibles (yellow dot) and
Hymnals, texts only (red dot) are on a cart at the back of the
Sanctuary.
Special
amplified headsets are
available for hearing-impaired guests.
Note
on the Ohio Concealed Handgun
Law:
Carrying
a concealed handgun is a privilege in Ohio, and with this privilege
comes a responsibility to be aware, not only of the common sense rules
of safe firearm handling, but the laws that affect how, when and where
you can carry your firearm. The law sets forth several places where
the license does not allow you to carry a handgun.
The
law, R.C.2923.126(B), lists places
that concealed handguns are prohibited, including places of
worship,
daycare centers and school
premises.
While
the Old Stone Church Sanctuary is easily recognized as a place of
worship, some visitors may not be aware that Old Stone Church's parish house,
the Old Stone Center, is home to the Old
Stone Foundation Alternative High School and Daycare
Center, operated in collaboration with the Cleveland
Municipal School District.
Revised
Code 2925.01(P) establishes that it is an offense to carry a concealed
handgun within 1,000 feet of a school facility.

The
Position of the Church on this Issue
In
1998, the General
Assembly of the PCUSA
added the following to their
policy on gun control calling
on all Presbyterians to:
"intentionally
work toward removing handguns and assault weapons from our homes and
our communities and... seek ways to develop community strategies and
create sanctuaries of safety for our children, so that all of our
children may come to identify and value themselves and others as the
precious children of the family of God that they are, and that they
may come to learn peace for their lives and peace for this
generation."
