Stained Glass Window Restorations

Restoration of the
I Am the Resurrection and the Life Window

In March, 2008, the I Am the Resurrection and the Life window was removed for restoration by Whitney Stained Glass. Also known as the Cogswell Memorial Window, it was installed by the Tiffany Studios in November, 1930. The signature of Louis Comfort Tiffany can be seen in the lower right corner. The window is a loving tribute to James H. Cogswell (1849-1925) from his wife, Elizabeth Cogswell. James Cogswell had been a devoted member of Old Stone for more than fifty years.

Restoration of the
Beside the Still Waters Window

During 2007, restoration of one of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s masterworks, Beside the Still Waters, was completed by the accomplished team of artisans at Whitney Stained Glass on Cleveland’s Superior Avenue. The work’s predominately cool color, blue and green, quite unlike coloring of Old Stone's other windows, was restored to its original brilliance and replaced in its setting on the west wall. The restorers discovered the Tiffany Company included its name at the bottom of this window, which had been covered over in the past with a window frame. The name is now visible.

Window restoration was completed in the Fall of 2007 and the window was rededicated during Sunday worship on January 27, 2008.The window, also known as The Raymond Memorial Window was given in 1915 in memory of Samuel A. Raymond by his family. The subject was taken from the Twenty-third Psalm, a favorite of the family.
